FREEBIE Friday: Vocal Abuse Behavior Checklist

I have several different vocal abuse behaviors checklists and they all have different behaviors listed.  However, I wanted a checklist that was fairly comprehensive including all of these behaviors in one, so I took matters in my own hands, made one myself the way I wanted it to look, added my own rating system and a re-assessment column and voila'.

Freebie Friday: Which ones START with...

Initial sound ID game I make for one of my kiddos who tends to omit sounds in the initial and final word positions.  Once I started working on phonological awareness tasks, his ability to discriminate between correct and incorrect speech productions and his ability to correct his own productions has improved significantly.  We must remember not to under estimate the power of phonological awareness skills when working with clients with phonological processing issues!

Which Ones START With...

FREEBIE Friday: Farm Animal Guessing Game!

Here is a simple farm animal guessing game I made for language delayed kiddos.  It is great for working on categories, attributes, inferencing skills, vocabulary and so much more.

This packet includes 8 basic farm animal pictures and 8 farm animal description cards.  You can use this packet in many different ways.  Here are just a few ideas:

1)  read the description cards and have your students point out the correct animal picture.

2) play concentration/memory

3) play "go fish"

4) hide the animal cards and play hide and seek or treasure hunt to see who can find the animal described first

FREEBIE Friday: Birthday Patterns!!!!

I was thinking of a simple fun way I could create a  reinforcer activity for my PK and early elementary kiddos that would not take a long time but could be something special they could do when I saw them for therapy the week of their birthday.  So I came up with this simple pattern sheet.  The fun thing about this sheet is that it has cute birthday graphics from Riefka Design and the patterns can be simply completed verbally or my kiddos could draw and color the next object in the pattern on the line.

Of course patterns are a great early math skill so this is developmentally designed for children PK age.

FREEBIE Friday: Gross Motor Dice: A reinforcer game!

As school is soon beginning once again, I thought this might be a fun icebreaker/getting to know you type game or a nice reinforcer game for young kiddos that need a little movement in therapy.  This game is also great when focusing on following directions.

I added a template with numbered dice as well in case you wanted to add a number of times you want your students to be doing these gross motor actions.

Here's a fun "Parts of a Whole" activity I made.  There are 9 pictures of binary choice cards with 3 descriptors (parts of the whole) and 9 object pictures you can use to have your client describe it by naming at least 3 parts of the object.

Freebie Friday: Sound Off! The Train is Coming: A phonological awareness game

Here is another phonological awareness game I made with these cute train graphics from ReviDevi that I found on mygraphico.com.  Super cute and great for my kiddos working on listening for their target sounds in various words! 

Also these phonological awareness activities have really helped my kiddos who use phonological processes become more aware of sounds in various positions in each word.

Tip Tuesday! The Nonverbal Child Part 4: Techniques to Elicit Language!

This is the last installment of my Nonverbal child series!  Thanks so much to all of you who stuck with it this month and checked out my presentations.  I hope they helped in some way.

Please note that in this presentation a number of language facilitation techniques will be discussed.  I have written about each one as a culmination of things I have learned over the years via research and my own personal clinical experience.  I cannot pinpoint the exact places these pieces of information have come from since I created this series of PPTs using just my old brain.
